Coexist
Illustrator, 2019
‘Coexist’ attempts to emphasize the psychological effects of human interaction with nature.
Invading
Surrounding
Nature’s effect on us is visually explored by showing the interaction between the plant world and humans. This series examines how external forces of nature can affect us psychologically, both positively and negatively.
Invading focuses on the idea of how the world invades her space, she doesn’t seem to do anything about it. Sometimes we don’t have the mental/physical energy to stop something, by not avoiding/stopping it, we are accepting it.
Surrounding is a softer look at the same idea of Invading, where nature surrounds her and seemingly uplifts her. She again doesn’t push it away or accepts it by welcoming it. She’s transitioning from the state of denial/avoidance expressed in Invading.
Future Illustration: Accepting + Giving is embracing and transforming energy (good or bad) into something good! Inspired by the quote: ‘She’s an alchemist, she doesn’t reflect back what the universe throws at her, she absorbs it, then she transforms it.’
